- Todd passed away on June 9, 2015 in New Orleans, LA after almost a yearlong battled with cancer. He was in the arms of his parents as he passed into God’s kingdom. Todd was born on April 10, 1963 in Denver, CO to Ruth (Fuls) and Ronald Dwyer. The family moved to Racine when he was 10 years old. He attended school in Racine through high school. Upon graduation he was a cook at various locations and settled on being a painter having worked alongside his father, several local painters as well as working independently. He decided to go to New Orleans in January 2006 following Hurricane Katrina to help bring the city back to what it was before the storm. He found his “home” in New Orleans where he enjoyed the music, weather, and city atmosphere with its architecture and old world feel. At the time of his death, he was employed at Country Inn and Suites as a painter and maintenance worker having last worked in March of this year. He is survived by his parents Ruth and Ron Dwyer of Kirby AR, sisters Christina (Michael) Pascal of New Orleans, Faith Abbott (Craig Benner) and a brother Matthew (Wendy Bohringer) of Racine. He is also survived by his longtime companion, Lolly Phillips, who was with him through his diagnosis and treatment over the past year. In addition, he is survived by three nieces, Mareeka and Annica Abbott, Erin Dwyer and nephew Matthew Dwyer and great niece, Ellabea Olsen. He is also survived by two aunts, Ruby Wichman and Kay Fuls and three uncles, Darwin (Martha) Dwyer, Michael (Anna) Dwyer, Dean Dwyer, many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Albert (Marie) Fuls, Jack (Gerdine) Dwyer, uncles Allen Fuls and Lester Wichman, an aunt, Nadine Dwyer and several cousins. Per Todd’s request he was cremated in New Orleans. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 29, 2015, 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home with visitation prior from 1:00 P.M. until time of service. The pastor officiating is an old family friend, the Rev. Paul Wesselink of Ada, Michigan and former pastor here in Racine at the First Reformed Church on Spring Street of which Todd was a member. The family suggests memorials go to the or to the family to further the education of his nieces and nephew. Following the service, family and friends will meet at Suds N Grub located at 4507 Douglas Avenue where there will be lunch and time to spend celebrating Todd’s life. The family would like to thank Duke Meredith and the Meredith family for stepping in and taking care of so many details that we were totally clueless as to where to go.
