Todd A. SmithTOULON - Todd A. Smith, 52, of Toulon, formerly of Wyoming, passed away at 3:08 p.m. on Thursday, December 15, 2016, at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria. Todd was born on October 15, 1964, in Peoria, IL, to James E. and Delphine J. Scheffert Smith. He married his high school sweetheart, Kelly Simmons, on March 3, 1990, at Wildlife Prairie Park, Peoria. She survives.Also surviving are one daughter, Ashlyn J. Smith (fiance Chris Baumann) of Toulon; his mother, Delphine J. Scheffert, of Peoria; and his father James E. (Shirley) Smith of Bradford. Also surviving are several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.Todd was preceded in death by his grandparents and several aunts and uncles.Todd owned and operated Smith Trenching and Backhoe, which was a business he started in 1982. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and making knives and bows. He also enjoyed taxidermy work, was a member of Boone and Crockett Club, and was a Cubs fan. He loved his friends and family, adored his donkeys and cats.A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 21, 2016, at Haskell-Hott Funeral Home in Toulon, IL. Reverend Sidney Davis, Jr. will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Toulon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Theresa Tracy Strive to Survive, OSF Richard L.
