Thomas Orson Spicer, a long time resident of Ventura County and native Californian died on January 12, 2015 at the age of 65 following a prolonged illness.
Tom was born on July 30, 1949 in Los Angeles, California to Norine Tyler and Ervin Spicer. Tom was the third of four children.
After his parent's divorce Norine and her children moved to Thatcher, Arizona; here Tom attended school through the ninth grade. In 1964 Norine married Harry Maxwell Blosdale, and the family moved back to California. Tom attended four different High Schools as the family moved around several times until settling in Port Hueneme, California. From a young age Tom enjoyed a number of sports but football was his favorite. "Tackling ace Spicer" was named most valuable player for Oxnard High School's varsity football team in 1966. During this time he also earned his Eagle Scout Award.
Sadly drugs entered his life in his college days at Ventura College and as a result he spent two years in prison and for a number of years this addiction was an underlying cause of trouble and problems for him. Tom fathered a daughter, Karen born in 1978, however that relationship did not last. In 1979 he married Charlene Booker and they made Las Vegas, Nevada their home for a time. This relationship ended in the mid 1980's. In 1986 he returned to college. In 1988 he graduated with an Associate of Science degree in legal assisting from Oxnard College. Shortly thereafter, Tom became homeless, a state he lived in for nearly 30 years. Tom was preceded in death by his beloved mother Norine Tyler Blosdale, his birth father Ervin Spicer, his step father Harry Maxwell Blosdale, his beloved Aunt Julia Beard, and his grandparents.
Tom is survived by his three siblings Sylvia Spicer Ward of Walnut Shade, Mo.; Ted Erwin Spicer of Oxnard, Ca; Suzanne Spicer Lusk of Springdale, Arkansas; their respective spouses along with a number of nieces and nephews; and his daughter Karen Kay Tews of Peoria, Arizona. God be with him till we meet again.
"Most Of His Life" - a look at the life of Thomas Orson Spicer written by Whitney O. Ward, a niece he never met.
Born July 30th 1949, He spent most of his life along the Californian coastline.
The third of Ervin and Norine he would be, He spent most of his life estranged from family.
He was named Thomas Orson after his grandfather, Most of his life society saw him as a bother.
He attended four different high schools till he had a degree, Then spent most of his life fighting petty parking fees.
We found his daughter, Karen Kay is her name, He didn't really get to know her, isn't that a shame.
Knick Knacks and trinkets all over the place, He spent most of his life, fallen from grace.
He drove himself, bleeding to the hospital where he would die, He spent most of his life, living a lie.
He spent most of his life in a state we wouldn't consider the best, Now he'll spend the rest of his life in a state of rest.
