XENIA — Thomas Hugh McHarg, 75, passed away on Friday, November 8, 2013, at Hospice House in Lecanto, Florida. Tom loved his family, his countless friends, his fishing partners and his hunting buddies all of whom loved him for his devotion to friends in need, generosity of time and spirit, and the humor that stayed with him until the end. He loved the out-of-doors and all wild things, and through the years, he spoiled his many pets, who always knew that it was worthwhile to beg at Tom's side of the table. He was an expert fisherman and hunter, and he could fix most anything with an engine. He was the sort of person you wanted by your side as much when the sun was shining and the fish were biting as you did when the boat was leaking and you were out of gas. Tom was born on March 14, 1938, to Hugh and Iris McHarg. His brother Jim and sister Patricia preceded him in passing. He is survived by his wife, of 53 years, Jane; son: Hugh; youngest brother: Stewart; and man's best friend, Lucky. Graveside services with military honors will be held 2 PM Sunday, December 22 at the New Burlington Cemetery, Clinton County, Ohio. A gathering of friends and family to celebrate Tom's life will take place at 3:30 PM Sunday, December 22nd at the home of Luann McHarg in Xenia, OH. In lieu of flowers or other considerations, the family suggests a memorial donation in Tom's name to Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast, Florida, or, as Tom was a proud veteran and honored marksman of the United States Army, to the Wounded Warrior Project, support.woundedwarriorproject.org.
You can to the family or in memory of Thomas McHarg.
