SIDNEY — Thomas L. Massengill Sr., 77, of Sidney, passed away at 2:20 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 6, 2016 at his residence.
He was born on Sept. 20, 1939, in Clairfield, Tennessee, the son of the late Elmer and Lessie (Good) Massengill.
On Feb. 14, 1986, Tom married the former Linda Napier and she survives along with three children, Tammy (Richard) Barga, of Sidney, Shelly (David) Meyer, of Russia, and Thomas L. Massengill Jr., of Sidney; three stepchildren, Colesa Napier, of Sidney, John Napier, of Sidney, and David Napier, of West Virginia; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Tom was preceded in death by one daughter, Sherry Massengill, one granddaughter, Linda Faye Napier, two great-grandsons, Easton and Allen Griffin, two sisters, Lella Seward and Jemima Jo Marlow, and one brother, James Massengill.
Mr. Massengill was a mechanic all his life and loved working on cars. He also worked for Helman Auto Parts for 37 years. Tom was a member of Christian Faith Baptist Church in Sidney. Tom enjoyed playing the lottery and was the "Scratch off King." He loved all children as they brought joy to his life. Most of all, Tom loved his family and grandchildren and enjoyed having gatherings and going on vacations with them.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 11, 2016, at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave., Sidney, with Pastor Lee Ellis officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 11 a.m. until hour of service.
