McAllen, TX - Thomas Giles Carmichael, 85 of McAllen passed away on Wednesday Nov 17th at The Comfort House in McAllen. Thomas (Tom) was born on March 16, 1931 in San Benito Texas to Roscoe and Lula E (Allen) Carmichael. He married his wife Janice in 1951 while serving in the Army Paratroopers in Fort Benning Georgia. Married for 65 years, they raised 4 daughters. He retired from the Border Patrol after 28 years of service. He has been a faithful member of Penitas Baptist Church where he volunteered at their food pantry ministry for many years.Tom was preceded in death by his daughter Barbara Casey, sister Mary E Staffel and brothers Alan E Carmichael, Bill Carmichael, Howard D Carmichael and Robert B Carmichael.He is survived by his wife Janice J Carmichael, daughter Patricia A Farias and husband Paul , Katheryn E Ausborn and Deborah L Broom, grandsons Michael J Hawker and wife Valerie, Russell L Barlow III and wife Sylvia , Sean M Casey, Matthew P Malone, Aaron J Ausborn and wife Caitlin and granddaughter Alyssa Merlos, great grandsons Gavin and Emery Jamison and great grand daughter Gabby Hawker.A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Dec 3rd from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at Penitas Baptist Church located at 404 S Main St, Penitas ,Texas. In place of flowers, please make donations in memory of Thomas Carmichael to either Penitas Baptist Church Pantry (mailing address : P.O. Box 215, Penitas, TX 78576) or The Comfort House located at 617 Dallas Ave, McAllen Texas 78501. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Heavenly Grace Funeral Home and Crematory.
