Thomas George Haney, 81 of Salinas passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2015. He was bornFebruary 2, 1934 in Riverside California, raised in Lodi, California, resident of Monterey County since 1967. Resident of Elkhorn for 45 years.
A master cabinet maker by trade he fulfilled his wish of owning his own business and in 1973 and until 1999, when he retired, he operated Haney Cabinets in Prunedale.
He was actively involved in many community activities throughout the years in North County as a North County little league coach, assisted with the start-up of the Manzanita Park Youth Area; member of the Prunedale Lions Club and Member of the Year in 1991 and was the chair of the entertainment for the North County Strawberry Festival in 1991-1993.
He was survived by his wife of 50 years, Sandy Haney, children: Matthew (Maribel) Haney of Yuma, Az; Patrick (Julie) of Prunedale and Brian (Donna) of Los Osos, Ca., sister Patricia Loncarich of Dublin, CA and brother, Mike Haney of Manteca, CA, along with 8 grandchildren.
Services will be private followed by a gathering of family and friends at a later date.
