Thomas Arthur TurnerOctober 2, 1942 - September 20, 2017Salem, Oregon - Thomas Arthur Turner, 74, of Salem, Oregon, passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2017, with his wife and his son by his side.He was born on October 2, 1942, the second of four children to Edward R. and Helen (Haubrich) Turner in San Diego, California. He was raised in Kauai, Hawaii, and graduated from Kauai High School. He then moved back to the "mainland" and attended Oregon State University and graduated with 2 Bachelor's degree, 1 in science and 1 in math. After his graduation, Tom served in the Peace Corps., and then went to work for Hawaiian Telephone. He met Noel Renee Rathe Le Gurche 1971 in Hawaii where they both worked for the same company. Tom and Noel married in January of 1972, in Honolulu. They relocated in 1982 to Salem, and he then worked for the State of Oregon Public Utilities, until his retirement in 2005. Tom enjoyed math, poetry, science, religion, dry jokes, but most of all his grandchildren.Tom is survived by his wife of 45 years, Noel; son, Christian Turner (Melissa); grandchildren, Olivia, Ryder, Sierra; brother Geoffory Turner and his nieces and nephews.A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, and the family will have a private service in Hawaii.
