Telma Elisabetta Ferrari Scaglia1937-2016Telma Elisabetta Ferrari Scaglia transitioned to heaven at home on December 13, 2016. She was 79 years old. Telma was born on January 30, 1937. Originally from Fresonara, Italy, she grew up in La Plata, Argentina. She had a loving childhood surrounded by her parents and extended family. She graduated from Mary O'Graham's College with a Teaching Degree in 1955. She obtained her Master in Special Education in 1965. She married the love of her life, Carlo Scaglia in 1960 and they lived in La Plata, Argentina. He was a Captain in the Merchant Navy at that time. This year they celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary. They had an only child, Fernando. She was a loving daughter who took dedicated care of her mother to the end after having lost her father. She also instilled in her only child the desire to pursue and excel in an academic career. She was a devout Catholic with a deep love for our Lady and Padre Pio di Pietrelcina. In 1990, she and her family moved to the United States were she continued to pursue her love for the arts. She was an accomplished artist in many fields including poetry, painting, and drawing. She exhibited in art galleries in Argentina and United States. Her poetry books were presented at the Buenos Aires Book Fair several times. Telma was an avid art collector and her good taste in Interior Design was recognized by family and friends. She also found time among all these activities to administer the family business. Telma was a true lady, respectful to everyone and was well loved by many. She took immense pleasure in her travels and pilgrimages with her husband and son and in the many friendships she cultivated. She was preceded by her father Carlo Ferrari and her mother Maria Elena Maddalena Celestre. She is survived by her spouse Carlo Scaglia and her only child Dr. Fernando Scaglia. The family wants to express their gratitude to Dr. Cristhiam Rojas from MD Anderson Cancer Center and Dr Ivo Tremont from Methodist Hospital and to all the people who were involved in her care. A memorial service in her honor will be held on Sunday December 18th from 4 to 8 pm at Forest Park Funeral Home and Cemetery on 12800 Westheimer Road. On Monday December 19th there will be a Mass at 10 am at Holy Ghost Catholic Church on 6921 Chestwood Drive. Burial will follow at Forest Park Cemetery.
