MAXTON — Teddy Edwin "Big Ted" Hale, 71, passed away at his home on June 1, 2014.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday at the Maxton First Assembly of God Church. A private interment will be at a later date.
Teddy was born on July 17, 1942 in Newberry, Mich., son of the late Lloyd Duane Hale and Neva Bernice Huntwork Hale. He was a proud ceteran of the United States Navy. He worked as an airplane mechanic retiring from Charlotte Aircraft after 25 years of service. Teddy was a devoted and loving family man that enjoyed hunting, watching NASCAR, racing and sports.
In addition to his parents, his brother Lloyd Duane Hale, Jr. also preceded him in death.
Big Ted is survived by his wife of 45 years Betty Jane Lake Hale of their home in Maxton, his children Barbara Baye (Kirk) of Washington, Tony Cross of Hamlet, Randall Cross (Connie) of Maxton, Billy Cross of Hamlet, Edwin Hale of Wisconsin, Tammy Thompson (Archie) of Hamlet, Chris Hale of Maxton, and Bobbie Lowe (Donald) of Laurinburg, sisters Sondra Joy Dewey of Kentwood, Mich. and Laurena Grimmet of Coalinga, Calif., 19 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.
Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
The family requests that memorial donations be made in his memory to AFTD, Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration, Radnor Station Bldg 2 Suite 320, 290 King of Prussia Road, Radnor, PA 19087.
