TAMI WARD Obituary

Oct 29, 1963 - Mar 03, 2017

This obituary is administered by:
Tami Schafer Ward, 53-years-old, died unexpectedly on Friday, March 3, 2017, at her home in Henderson, Nevada. Tami was born on October 29, 1963 in Covington, Kentucky to Robert and Delfina Schafer. Her brother, Grant was 10 years younger and they were extremely close throughout her life. Known for her free spirit and passionate defiance, Tami made a stark imprint on every person in her life. Those closest to her loved her dearly for her tenaciousness and relentless spirit. Even as a child, she was a beautiful combination of stubbornness and affection. Throughout her life she maintained an unassuming, welcoming demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many. God gifted Tami with the profound ability of impartial mercy. Regardless of circumstances, she opened her heart and home on countless occasions to acquaintances, friends and family in need of a place to stay for a night, or longer. Above all else, she loved her husband and children fiercely and steadfast. Her signature gift of unconventional devotion and originality, shown through her constant smiling and outrageous laughter, will never be forgotten. After graduating from Coronado High School, she married her high school sweetheart, Earl Ward. The couple married on June 4, 1982 at St. Clements Church in El Paso, Texas. Married for 34 years, Tami & Earl raised their 2 precious children, Jared and Sabrina in Dallas, Texas. Possessing a true mother's heart, Tami became the mom to so many of her children's friends during this time. She spent her days raising her children, shuttling them to wrestling and dance, and worked at a preschool for many years which she loved. The whole family then moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 2008 where she became active in dog rescues and spent her days swimming and taking care of her dogs. Tami & Earl loved to visit so many places, but later in life her favorite place to find peace was a family member's small farm in Missouri. She tended to horses, took care of the house, and enjoyed the quiet there. Another favorite was the relaxing beaches of Hawaii, where she had spent a portion of her life. Our sweet girl, Tami: She lived life to the fullest, laughed at the simplest things, and loved like no other. Her surviving family members are numerous, but mainly include: Husband of 34 years: Earl Ward Mother of 2 Children & Partners: Jared and Nicole Ward, Sabrina Ward. Immediate family: Parents, Robert and Delfina Schafer; Brother, Grant and Desiree Schafer. In-Law's/Other family members: Novita Ward, mother in law. Unfortunately too many beloved cousins to list. She remained very close to Brian Burch, Pam Schafer and Todd Schafer. Tami's Celebration of Life will be held at St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 204 S. Boulder Highway; Henderson, Nevada, 89015 at 10:00am March 10, 2017. For more information, please call (702) 970-2500.
