Sylvia C. RamirezVentura, CA With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our loving wife, mother, grandmother (NANA) and friend on Saturday, April 15, 2017. Sylvia Carmen Ramirez was born on December 21, 1949, in El Paso, Texas. Sylvia grew up in East Los Angeles, California, graduating from Theodore Roosevelt High School. In 1968, she married Jose Raul Ramirez and together they raised three children. Throughout her 30 years of service, Sylvia was instrumental in creating policies, writing manuals and mentoring employees, retiring from The Ventura County Probation Agency in July of 2013. For the past three years, she worked with the Laborer's Union Local 585 and the SEIU Local 721 retiree's. She played an integral part in facilitating communication between local laborers and County and State politicians, which she was very passionate about. Of all her accomplishments in life and career, Sylvia was most proud of her children and grandchildren. She often said she lived for her grandchildren. They were the loves of her life. Sylvia constantly talked about the memories she created on long road trips which made her laugh. Nana spent her quality time watching The Food Network, movies and her favorite Novelas. She welcomed everyone into her home and anyone who entered was considered family. Sylvia C. Ramirez is survived by her husband, Jose Raul Ramirez; son Jose R. Ramirez and wife Lori Ramirez and children; son, Guillermo Ramirez and wife Linda C. Ramirez; daughter, Sylvia I. Ramirez; grandchildren, Steven Ray Bailey, Roman Ramirez, BreeAnna H. Arana, Jose R. Ramirez and Andie Buckingham; my mother's most heartfelt friends Liz Semain, Justin Tipton, Tina Taylor, and her many friends.
