Melanz, Steven JosephSteven Joseph Melanz age 59 passed away Tuesday November 7, 2017 at Meriter Hospital Madison with his wife by his side. He was born on August 2, 1958 the son of Joseph and Charlotte (Baumert) Melanz. He was currently employed by UnityPoint Health - Meriter Hospital Madison as an Information Tech and has worked there for over twenty years. Steven "Stevie" married the love of his life Debra Rausch on October 29, 1988 at Ss. Cyril & Methodius Church in Sheboygan Wisconsin and they have celebrated Twenty nine years together. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Evansville. Steven was a boy Scout earning his Eagle Scout Badge , loved to go camping, enjoyed the outdoors and the wildlife. Steve took Deb (his favorite wife as he used to say) on many trips out west as he loved the mountains and the National Parks. He was an avid U.W. Whitewater Warhawks football fan since 2004. He seldom missed a Warhawks home or road games. He was an active member of the Quarterback Club and served on the board of directors. Steven loved to tailgate at all the home and away games, constantly making life long friends with both Whitewater supporters and visiting guests. It was normal for him to invite parents of the opponents to join him for both pregame and post game parties. He attended most of Whitewater's Stagg Bowl games cheering the Warhawks to many National Championships. He will be dearly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his "favorite" wife Debra of Evansville, sister; Cindy Schaeve of Sheboygan, a niece; Tanya Schaeve (special friend Joey Garic), a nephew; Mike (fiancée Hollie Batt) Schaeve, great nephew; Owen, great nieces; Ahnika, Jahda, McKayla, an aunt; Doloris VandeVrede, sisters in law; Judy (Bruce) Bradley, Karen (Camron) Lauersdorf, Kathy Rausch, brother in laws; Mike (fiancée Lori Laus) Rausch, Jim (Bonnie) Rausch, step niece; Taylor Batt and extended family, cousins; Dale, Glenn and Carl. He was preceded in death by his parents and grand parents. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday November 18, 2017 at St. Paul Catholic Church 39 Garfield Ave Evansville with reverend Kevin Dooley officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:00am until the time of service on Saturday at church. A second service will be held at Ss. Cyril and Methodius Church 822 New Jersey Ave Sheboygan on November 19th with visitation from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm and a Mass held at 5:00 pm. The family would like to thank Dr. Rajguru and his staff at the Carbone Cancer Center, Dr. Pribbenow, Dr. Manning, Lori, as well as Meriter Friends and Meriter Care Team.
