Stella A. Meeden went home to be with the Lord on August 19, 2012 in Phoenix, AZ. She was born on March 20, 1939 to Alfred and Maria Meeden.Stella was a Girl Scout leader, a Registered Nurse, and an avid reader. She enjoyed shopping for her grand and great-grandchildren.Stella, a Quechan elder, was very active at the elder center.Stella was preceded in death by her parents; son, Robert "Curtis" Chavez in 1962 at age 5; her siblings, Bertha Wilson, Alfred Meeden, Edward Meeden and granddaughter, Summer Chavez.She is survived by her siblings, Charles Meeden, Flora Perez, Robert Meeden, Peggy Meeden, Henry Meeden, and Kenny Meeden; she is also survived by 5 children:Regina (Chavez) Williams, Janet Matus, Sandra Chavez, Linda Chavez, and John "Chris" Chavez; 17 grandchildren and 24 surviving great grandchildren.Viewing will be held at Yuma Mortuary on Saturday, September 1, 2012 between 3:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Services will be from 3:30p.m. to 4:30p.m. Traditional Quechan Services to follow beginning at 5:00p.m.
