Stanley L. Lazuerwicz of Tawas City passed away peacefully at Lakeview Manor Healthcare Center on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, age 91 years. Stanley was born on Dec. 31, 1920 in Standish to Joseph and Anna (Sokal) Lazuerwicz. He worked as a fork truck driver for National Gypsum, retiring after many years of faithful service and hard work. Those who knew and loved Stanley will always remember how he truly enjoyed deer hunting and working around the house. Stanley proudly served in the Army during World War II where he enjoyed cooking for all in the Army. He was a devoted parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church where he actively participated as an usher. He was also a member of the Living Rosary Association. Stanley is survived by his loving and very special niece, Angie, and her husband Stanley Harwood; and other nieces and nephews and in-laws. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary (Kusey), whom he married on Jan. 10, 1942. He is also preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Anna Lazuerwicz, four brothers and two sisters. A funeral mass is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 4, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in East Tawas with Father Charles Donajkowski and Father Lawrence Boks officiating. His family will welcome friends at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 3 to 8 p.m. at Buresh Funeral Home in Tawas City. Interment and military honors will take place in Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery in Tawas City.
