HUNTSMAN, StanleyStanley Houser Huntsman died in Austin, TX on November 23, 2016. He was born on March 20, 1932 in Scottdale, PA to J. Owen and Frances Huntsman. He graduated from Wabash College in 1954 and earned a Master's in 1956 from Ohio University. During his collegiate athletic career, he was a nationally ranked decathlete and record-setting running back in football.In 39 years, he served as head track coach for Ohio University, University of Tennessee and
University of Texas and led teams to 46 conference championships and two national championship titles. He was head coach for the U.S.
Olympic track team in 1988 in Seoul, Korea. Huntsman is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sylvia Scalzi Huntsman; son, Stanley Stephen of Los Angeles, CA; daughter, Coni Huntsman Stogner, son-in-law Bradley Stogner and their children, Connor (13), Mackenzie (11) and Quentin (8) of Austin, Texas. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at St. Theresa's Catholic Church, 4311 Small Drive, Austin, TX, 10:00 am. A celebration of Coach's life will be held immediately following the services at the church.
