Stanley DziurzynskiKnoxville, TNStanley Louis (Stanislaw Ludwick) Dziurzynski, age 89, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2016. Stanley was born on February 5, 1927 in Auburn, New York to Polish Immigrants, Joseph and Josephine Dziurzynski. Stanley attended Gallaudet College in Washington D.C. and graduated in 1952 earning his Bachelor's Degree in Education. While attending college Stanley met his future wife Ruthalee Ward of Turlock, California. After graduation, Stanley briefly taught at the Alabama School for the Deaf. In 1953, Stanley and his wife moved to Knoxville, Tennessee where he accepted a position at the Tennessee School for the Deaf. He taught his students the craft of metal and woodworking. He served for many years as the clock operator for both Football and Basketball. He would also serve as the scorekeeper as well as sell tickets for the games. Stanley was always well-prepared and dedicated to the education of his students and the school. He retired after 33 years of service in 1986. In 1995, he was inducted into the TSD Alumni Association Hall of Fame where he received a Dedication Service Award for his outstanding contribution to TSD and its community. In 2010, Stanley received another award for outstanding service and leadership for Deaf Education from Temple Baptist Church Powell, Tennessee. He also served as an assistant and eventually a scoutmaster for 17 years for Boy Scouts of America. In 2012, he was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of outstanding service to scouting. He was a leader to young deaf men. Stanley and Ruthalee loved seeing this beautiful country and traveled to all 50 States and toured countries in Europe. He loved to visit the National Parks especially the Great Smoky Mountains. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed taking this family camping, hiking, snow skiing, and fishing. Stanley's love for his family, dedication and humor will be missed.Among the many who loved him was his wife of 64 years, Ruthalee; his children, Alvin (Pat) Dziurzynski, Pamela (Charles) Pyles, Marsha (Rich) Ferroni, Don (Monica) Dziurzynski; grandchildren, Allen (Kristy) Cole, Jared Ferroni, Jonathan Dziurzynski, Sarah Ferroni; great-grandchildren, Kayla and Josh Cole. Stanley was preceded in death by his siblings, Thaddeus Dziurzynski, Billie Ruschak, Jane Fronczek, and Lottie Swizdor. The family offers a heart-filled Thank You to the caregivers at the Courtyards at Briarcliff, and to the Avalon Hospice Team.A celebration of life service will be held at First Baptist Church Knoxville, Tennessee (510 Main St.) on December 4, 2016. Receiving of friends will begin at 2:00 p.m. with a celebration of life service at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Knoxville Center of the Deaf, 3731 Martin Mill Pike Knoxville, Tennessee 37920.
