JOHNY, Sosamma (Susan) With sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of Sosamma (Susan) Johny. She died peacefully at the age of 71 on June 8, 2017. She was born on May 20, 1946 in Padachira House, Pathamuttom, India. She is survived by her devoted husband of 43 years, K.C. Johny, daughters, Anita (Daniel) and Angela, beloved grandchildren Leah and Adam, sisters Mariamma (P.J. Paulose) and Annamma (Kuruvilla Thomas), brothers Andrews (Molly) and Phillip (Lizzy), sister-in- law Susamma, and numerous nephews, nieces, and friends. She was predeceased by her father P.C. Thomas, mother Sosamma Thomas, and brother Cherian. Sosamma will forever be remembered for her kindness, gentle nature, and steadfast faith.The family would like to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the caring staff at the U of A Hospital, Grey Nuns Hospital, and Cross Cancer Institute, as well as the outpouring of support and kindness received from friends, neighbours, and community. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at 10 a.m. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Both will be held at The Catholic Parish of Corpus Christi (2707 34 Street). Interment to follow at Westlawn Funeral Home & Cemetery (16310 Stony Plain Rd NW). In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cross Cancer Institute. If able, we encourage people to donate blood at Canadian Blood Services in memory of Sosamma.
