Shirley M. Veasey1922 - 2014Shirley M. Veasey, 92, of Kenosha passed away on Monday, May 12, 2014, at United Hospital Systems Kenosha Campus with her family by her side. Shirley was born on April 1, 1922, in Kenosha to Victor and Sophie (Larsen) Steinway. She was educated in the schools of Kenosha and graduated from Kenosha High School. Shirley married Charles E. Veasey in North Carolina at Camp Butner on July 24, 1943, and they were married for over 40 years until Charles preceded her in death in July of 1986. She worked for Jockey, Zion Curtain Factory and Douglas Specialties in Winthrop Harbor. She was a life-long member of Grace Lutheran Church for many years and enjoyed spending time at the Senior Center, playing bingo and cards. Shirley was a Chicago Cubs fan for many years but her greatest joy was the time she spent with her family.She was also preceded in death by, her parents; her brother, Warren Steinway and her sister, Vivian Karnes.Shirley is survived by six children, Sharon (Al) Wheelock of Peoria, Ariz., Karen (Gary) Hollister of Salem, Charlene Guzman of Kenosha, Denise (David) Angotti of Somers, Kevin (Jane) Veasey of Kenosha and Mark (Wendy) Veasey of Kenosha; 19 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Dolores Steinway of the Dakotas as well as other family and friends.Funeral services for Shirley will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 16, 2014, at Grace Lutheran Church (2006 60th Street) with interment to follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.
