Trich, Shirley A.Shirley A. Trich, 88, passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2017. Shirley was born on May 26, 1928 to James and Ruth Gerhard in Green Bay, where she lived for most of her life. After attending East High School, she graduated from Carroll College in 1950 and shortly thereafter married Robert M. Trich. She then went on to Saint Norbert College to earn her teaching degree and embarked on a teaching career that spanned 25 years, beginning at Pulaski High School, then to Washington Junior High School where she spent most of her career. She also traveled between Preble and East High later in her career. She loved teaching, and often remarked how every day was different and exciting. Upon retirement, Shirley and her husband, Bob moved to their summer home along the shores of Green Bay north of Dykesville where they enjoyed their later years together. They eventually moved to Allouez. Shirley enjoyed sewing, cross-stitching and embroidery as hobbies. For many years, she was also a dedicated volunteer with De Pere Christian Outreach Thrift Store. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Parish in DePere.Shirley was a hard-working, devoted wife and mother of four, and will be sadly missed by family and friends. She is survived by four children, Barbara Finn, Grass Valley, CA; Rebecca (Thomas) Sauer, Rockwall, TX ; Robert (Merle) Trich Jr., New Franken, WI; Colleen (Larry) Thibodeau, Green Bay, WI; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her parents, two brothers, Dick and Jim Gerhard, and two sisters, Ruth Manders and Mary Brosz.Friends may call at St. Mary Catholic Church, 4805 Sportsman Drive in Ledgeview, from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Thursday, February 23rd. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at church with Rev. Richard Getchel officiating. Burial will be in Allouez Catholic Cemetery. Blaney Funeral Home is assisting the family.
