Hornick, Shirley A.Shirley A. Hornick, age 84, of Appleton, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, January 15, 2017. She was born on January 28, 1932, in Baraboo, daughter of the late William and Ruby (Paddock) Cash. On October 6, 1951, she married Norman Hornick who preceded her in death on October 3, 1990. After marriage they lived in Milwaukee until their move to Appleton in 1969.Shirley worked as a School Secretary at Sacred Heart School in Milwaukee and for 27 years in the same capacity at St. Thomas More School in Appleton until her retirement in 1996. Following her retirement she was involved in many organizations, among which were FISH, Leaven and Salvation Army. Shirley was also a Girl Scout Leader for a number of years in Milwaukee and Appleton. She particularly enjoyed music and children and had a special place in her heart for the elderly. Shirley is survived by her daughter, Judi Lloyd; two grandchildren: Cassie (Nick) Laszewski and Mike (Elyse) Lloyd; a great granddaughter, Alaina Lloyd; a sister, Jean Stahl; a brother, Bill (Delores) Cash; sisters-in-law: Cecil Hornick-Ewert and Barbara Hornick; a step sister, Sande Favreau; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Norman; her parents, William and Ruby; a son-in-law, Mike P. Lloyd; and brothers-in-law: Harry Hornick, Harland "Lefty" Hornick and Arthur Stahl.Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2017, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 1810 N. McDonald Street, Appleton, with Fr. Gerald Falk officiating. Family and friends may call directly at the church on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the Mass.
