Most of us review the obituary columns on a daily basis to note those who have passed on, whether we knew them or not and most often give a sigh of relief that it does not pertain to us. Until we are involved we do not appreciate the loss, the emptiness the feeling of desperation that suddenly arises. On Sunday the 13th day of November, 2016 at 6:15 a.m. Sharon Lorraine Whent passed from this earth. She was born on the 2nd day of August 1951 to Lorraine and Jim Haigh of Empire Avenue in Fort William. Shortly thereafter there were two brothers to join the group Terry Haigh and Randy Haigh. The Whent family became involved in March of 1991 when the Revered Moffatt joined Ken Whent and Sharon in holy matrimony. They worked together and shared their lives ever since Ken brought along his daughter Maggie (Eric) Jimenez of Gilroy California and Jake of Thunder Bay. Maggie and Jake's mom Louise (Hunter) Whent had passed away in 1982. Maggie and Jake enjoyed a full time Nanny, Dette (Arthurs) Stapleton during the interval. She was a God send at the time. Maggie has two children, Alexis who is attending university in Alaska and Brandon who resides here in Thunder Bay. Due to special circumstances, Sharon and Ken were blessed with the opportunity of raising Brandon as their own. Unquestionably since he arrived he has been the most important person in Sharon's life. Jim and Lorraine became Brandon's grandparents. The remainder of the Whent family merely fit into Haigh family hierarchy. Unfortunately on November 11th, 2008 Jim passed away but Lorraine is enjoying life at Pinewood Court senior's residence. Terry and his wife Cathy have a son Andrew (Andrea). Randy and his wife Val enjoy Randy's two sons from his previous marriage to Carol Haigh, Dyane (Jessica) and Connor. There are far too many relatives in the Haigh, Lundberg, Woodbeck clan and the Whent/Kannegiesser clan to mention them all. Please appreciate the fact that Sharon remembered all of you. The good parts and otherwise. That was one of her greatest attributes, a wonderful memory. A celebration of Sharon's life has been arranged to be held at the First Wesley United Church, 130 North Brodie Street, on Friday the 18th of November at 3:00 p.m. with the Reverend Hewitt T. Holmes officiating. A private Interment with the family will be undertaken shortly thereafter with a reception to be held at the Valhalla Inn Scandia room from 4:00 to 7:00.
You can to the family or in memory of Sharon Whent.
