SARA HEATHERINGTON MUNSTER, IN Sara Heatherington, 90, of Munster, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2017, peacefully at home. Sara was born on March 15, 1926 in Pueblo, Colorado, the daughter of Mellie Steffano and Vito Busillo. Sara completed her education in Wyoming and then worked at the Green River, Wyoming abstract office. In 1962, she and her husband Robert (Bob) moved to Indiana where she worked in Munster's Lanier School Library, nurtured her love for books, and created lifelong friendships. She remained forever a proud, sassy and independent Wyoming native, and she took care to preserve her Italian heritage. Sara was also a devout Catholic and a member of St. Thomas More Church. She was an avid bridge player; and at 90 years old, she remained a prized bridge partner. The game of bridge spoke to Sara's love of learning. Sara loved experimenting in her kitchen and shared new recipes with her family and friends. Her family continues the Italian tradition of making pizzelle cookies. She is survived by her loving family: daughters, Lisa (George K. Falkenbach), Gina (Kevin Tilka), and Amy (Brad) Hemingway; grandchildren, Wyatt, Grace, Joe, Nelson and Heather; sisters, Elizabeth (late Harold) Penland and Marguerite (late Gene) Boatright, nieces, nephews, and many life-long friends. Sara was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Bob, on January 26, 2002, her parents, and brothers-in-law. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 30, 2017 from 3:00-8:00 PM, with a prayer service at 3:30 PM at
Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN. and on Tuesday from 9:30-10:00 AM at the church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at 10:00 AM, at St. Thomas More Church, Munster, Indiana. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Planting Possibilities, Inc. PO. Box 1805 Highland, Indiana 46322 would be greatly appreciated.
May your next hand be the high cards, and may all the tricks be yours, Sara. We love and miss you. Thank you for all you gave us. www.kishfuneralhome.net
