Sandy Jo Martinez, age 45, passed away November 29, 2014, after a valiant fight against cancer, in Yuma Arizona. She was born on April 11, 1969, in Willmar, Minnesota, to Sharon and Roger Armstrong.Sandy attended elementary school in Minnesota and graduated high school at Kofa High School, Yuma, Arizona. She was married to Walter Martinez on November 18, 1989. They celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary last week.Sandy was a very caring and generous person. She was always helping someone and was happy to do it. Sandy was an avid bowler for years. She loved to go camping, swimming, and always had the most fun. She worked hard and played hard.She was preceded in death by her father, Roger Armstrong. Survivors include her husband, Walter Martinez; mother, Sharon Adams; brother, Jeff Armstrong and wife Dawn; sisters, Penny Armstrong and Peggy Bush; mother-in-law, Sheryl Mills; father-in-law, Charlie Martinez; sister-in-law, Melanie Martinez, and brothers-in-law, Joe Martinez and Dwayne Martinez.Memorial Services will be held at Johnson Mortuary Chapel on December 3, 2014, at 10 a.m. to be followed by a potluck dinner at The Mine Shaft, 3905 S. 4th Avenue, Yuma. Please bring a dish to share. Sandy asked that everyone wear bright colors and celebrate the day.In lieu of flowers, you may donate to Hospice of Yuma, The Village at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, or Yuma Regional Cancer Center.
