Samuel Beck Sutton was born to the late William Sutton and Arbunyan Sutton on June 14, 1946 in Yazoo Mississippi. He departed from this life February 7, 2020 at his home in Oakland California.
Samuel accepted Christ in his life at an early age and throughout his life continued to look to God for his strength. God was never left out of his conversations no matter where he was. Knowing him as well as I knew him, his bible was always open which he read every day. Samuel loved hanging out at the drums/Berkeley flea market every weekend for many years. Tiffani and I went with him most of the time. He was very sensitive to the homeless, always giving when he had it. The last 20 years of his life, Sam was very sober and loved the fresh air and good food. Football and basketball, he never missed a game. Although he has left this earth to be with our Savior in his natural home, his presence will forever remain in the hearts of us all.
Samuel centered his life around his daughter Tiffani Sutton. He loved that girl from birth until he departed. His time and energy and money was all about making sure she knew what it meant to have a caring and loving father. He taught her what not to do. They had an amazing relationship which I was always thankful for as a mother. Because of Samuel, she is today a well balanced loving and caring young lady. Sam had a lot of health issues, however, he asked God to let him live to see his little girl grow up and he answered his prayer. And for that, he was so grateful.
He leaves to cherish his memories a daughter, Tiffani Markia Sutton; ex-wife Ronda Sutton, brother John Sutton, sister Barbara Reid, and a host of neices and nephews. Samuel lived in Los Angeles prior to coming to Oakland, which is where he has a large family of loved ones and friends.
