Sally Sabatier Kelley, 64, passed peacefully surrounded by family on July 3, 2018, in Birmingham, Alabama after a lengthy battle with ovarian cancer. She fought a long, hard battle, which ended far too soon. Born May 9, 1954, on Mother’s Day in New Orleans, Louisiana, she was the daughter of the late Joseph A. Sabatier and the late Dora Krone Sabatier.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 47 years, Robert M. Kelley, three loving daughters: Kimberly Kelley Johnson (Steven) of Birmingham, Shannon Kelley Mickelson (Carl) of Buda, Texas and Leslie Kelley Meyer (Christopher) of Birmingham, and she was the doting Nana of five grandchildren-Ethan Joseph Meyer, Stella Grace-Dora Mickelson, Eli Christopher Meyer, Cole Asher Mickelson and Evan Robert Meyer. Sally is also survived by her sister Susan Sabatier Satter (Donald), brother Conrad Sabatier, step brother Fred West, stepsisters Susan West Roberts and Sheila West McCarthy as well as her nephews Paxton Satter, Michael Taranto, Mark Taranto, Richard Granger and nieces Carson Satter, Erin Taranto, Jessica Soldo, Dottie Granger Nieto as well as a multitude of cousins and friends. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Christine Sabatier Taranto, brother in law Wayne Taranto, stepmother Audrey Sabatier and her beloved maternal grandmother, Mamie B. Constant.

She is a native of St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana, and a graduate of St. Bernard Parish Community College. She worked as a telecommunications specialist for the National Finance Center in New Orleans before retiring and moving to Birmingham in 2006 after being displaced from her home by Hurricane Katrina.

Her family, friends and especially her grandchildren meant everything. She was loved by everyone she met and had so many lifelong friends. She enjoyed swimming, cooking, playing dominoes with her friends and teaching others the game, and singing. She loved the arts and writing poetry, and listening music especially the Beatles and other 1960s favorites. She was an active member of the Greystone YMCA participating in the swim aerobics class and the Yellowleaf Neighborhood Homeowners’ Association in Chelsea. Sally was a parishoner of St. Mark's the Evangelist Catholic Church.

Her funeral mass was held in the St. Mark’s the Evangelist Catholic Church chapel in Birmingham, Alabama on Thursday, July 5th. Burial will be in the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance are much appreciated.
