Ruth TorresBattle CreekRuth Torres, 89, of  Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away Thursday, January 26, 2017, at Bronson Battle Creek. She was born on July 22, 1927, in Manistee County, Michigan, the daughter of Perry and Gladys (Prowant) Johnson. Ruth moved to Battle Creek in 1936 and graduated from Wright's Beauty Academy in 1947.  She was a hair stylist for 43 years, retiring in 1990. Ruth was joined in marriage to Carl P. Torres from November 24, 1947 until his death in 2001.Funeral Services will be held 11:30 a.m. Friday, February 3, 2017 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with interment to follow at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of South Central Michigan or Chapel Hill United Methodist Church.
