Ruth E. Farmer, age 83 of Delaware died Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Mt. Carmel St. Ann's Hospital. She was born on April 14, 1933 to the late Austin and Ada (Schwartz) Smith.

Ruth graduated from Cardington High School in the Class of 1950. She worked 18 years for Farm Bureau/Nationwide Administration and 13 years for Agri Broadcasting Network.

Ruth enjoyed reading and crocheting. She spent many years with "Touching Little Lives" by crocheting afghans for pre-mature babies in the NICU. Ruth was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Jenkins-Vaughan Unit #97 in which she had been a District President from 1969-1971 and held several Department Appointments. She was also a member of the Morrow County Antique Tractor Association and the B.F. Avery National Tractor Club.

On July 28, 1951, Ruth married William Farmer at the Cardington Bethel Church who preceded her in death.

Ruth is survived by three sons: Vern (Marlyn) Farmer of Marion, Waid (Dee Dee) Farmer of Prospect, and Reid (Pat) Farmer of Fort Pierce, FL; one daughter, Faye Beveridge of Mt. Gilead; 6 Grandchildren, 6 Great-grandchildren, and 1 Great-great-grandchild; 1 brother: Marvin Smith of Marion.

In addition to her husband and parents, Ruth was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Earl and Doyle Smith.

Friends may call on Sunday, December 11, 2016 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center Street in Cardington. The funeral service will be held Monday, December 12, 2016 at the funeral home at 10:00 am with Pastor Steve Bloomfield officiating. Following the service the burial will take place in the Glendale Cemetery.
