TaylorsvilleStout, Ruth Elizabeth Peterson,99, passed away Saturday, October 7, 2017, at Oaklawn Health & Rehab Center.She was born on January 28, 1918 in Stromsburg, NE to the late Richard Alfred and Lillian Olga Samuelson Peterson.Throughout her life Mrs. Stout was an active leader in numerous charitable and civic organizations, including Kentucky Federation of Business and Professional Women, Friendship Force International, Spencer County Homemakers, Associated Country Women of the World, and National Volunteers of North America. At age 88 Mrs. Stout remained involved in 11 such organizations, noting, "I just don't know which one to give up." She was a long-standing member of First Baptist Church of Taylorsville, KY, serving as the church secretary for 12 years. Mrs. Stout was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and husband of 68 years, Peter David Stout. Survivors include Mrs. Stout's son, Charles Harold Stout (Judy) Shelbyville, KY; her daughter, Constance Ann Stout-Gustafsson (Peter) Vellinge, Sweden; and her grandchildren, Richard David Stout, Allyson Elizabeth Carolyn Stout, and Hanna-Ruth Gustafsson (Jacob), as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 13, 2017 at 12:00 noon at the First Baptist Church of Taylorsville, with Rev. Clay Stevens officiating. Visitation for Mrs. Stout will be on Thursday, October 12, 2017 from 4:00-8:00 pm at Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home of Taylorsville. Additional visitation will be Friday after 10:00 am until time of funeral service at the church. Interment will be in Valley Cemetery in Taylorsville. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contribution to the First Baptist Church of Taylorsville Building Fund, or to Hosparus Health.The Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
