Binder, RuthRuth M. Binder, age 95, of Oshkosh, passed away peacefully at Mercy Medical Center Wednesday morning, March 8, 2017. She was born on March 31, 1921 in Oshkosh to Matthew C. and Theresa (Bauer) Mertz. Upon returning from the Pacific Theater of WWII, Robert E. Binder took Ruth to be his bride on May 23, 1946, and together they raised five daughters. They were blessed to share 65 years of marriage.Ruth had a special passion for music, and was especially talented in singing. She sang in various church choirs and as a soloist at weddings; was active with the Oshkosh Choraliers; and enjoyed playing the piano. She was also involved with volunteer service at Evergreen Manor, and was a member of the Legion of Mary at church.She and Robert did some traveling to areas of Southern US and took several trips thru the Western states as well. She also embarked on her one and only transatlantic flight to Medjugorje, former Yugoslavia, for a religious pilgrimage.Ruth was a faithful member of Most Blessed Sacrament Parish (St. Peter site), and was especially devoted to the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Rosary.Ruth is survived by her five daughters: Susan (Don) Killilea, Oshkosh; Catherine Nordhaus, Oshkosh; Mary (Jeffrey) Wolk, Oshkosh, Theresa (Edward) Wyrembeck, Sheboygan; and Ann (George) Leroux, Fond du Lac. There are ten grandchildren: Christine (Paul) Vanevenhoven; Elizabeth Nordhaus; Molly, Robert and Kathryn Wolk; Meghan, Aaron and Ted Leroux; Nicholas and Lucas Wyrembeck.She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, in 2011, two brothers; Raymond, George Mertz, five sisters; Alma Jungwirth, Sylvia Pitz, Viola Jungwirth, Irene Putzer, and Dorothy Wright.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday March 11, at 10:30 AM in Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church (St Peter worship site) with the Rev Jim Jugenheimer officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:30 AM until the hour of services.In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established.
