Funeral services will be 11:00AM Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at View Baptist Church, 250 Boynton, Abilene with graveside services beginning at 2:00PM in the Texas State Veterans Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Hwy 277 South. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 10, 2017 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at the funeral home. Ruth was born on May 29, 1950 in Alpena, Michigan to the late Elwin E. Peel and Agnes L. Pope. She met and married the love of her life, Frank while he was stationed in El Paso, Texas. They lived all over the United States during Frank's enlistment. After Frank retired from the Navy, they made their home in Richmond, California. In 2009, Ruth and Frank moved to Abilene, Texas and built their dream home together. Ruth became a member of View Baptist Church and was strongly committed to her church family and the Lord. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank in 2014; brothers, Lyle and Richard Peel; and a sister, Hilda Mann. Survivors include her sister, Brenda Dunham and husband, Richard of White Lake, Michigan; numerous nieces and nephews; two dogs, Cameo and Gracie; her cat, MM (Motor Mouth); and by her church family.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to View Baptist Church, 250 Boynton, Abilene, TX 79606, Social Ministries, 616 S.
