Russell “Russ” Missureli MADISON-Russell “Russ” Anthony Missureli, Jr., age 65, of Madison, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 14, 2013, at home with his wife at his side. He was born on the Ides of March 1948, in Racine, the son of Russell and Helen (Matagrano) Missureli. Russ married Suzanne Speckmann on June 3, 1978 in Madison and the couple was inseparable after wedding vows were exchanged. He attended the St. Francis Seminary in Milwaukee for six years. Russ graduated from St. Norbert College in De Pere and earned his master’s degree in behavioral disabilities from the UW-Madison. Russ taught special education in the Madison School District for 37 years and his students had a deep appreciation for his caring assistance to advance academic efforts. He constantly advocated for the underdog which explained his unwavering support for the Milwaukee Brewers. Russ always strove to make the world a better place by demonstrating the importance of mutual respect and was incredibly grateful for the outpouring of support from family and friends during the past year. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 35 years, Suzanne and his children that he so dearly loved Andrew “Drew” of Davis, Calif. and Andrea of Madison. He is also survived by his father, Russell of Racine, many aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Road, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2013. Visitation will held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, July 19, 2013 and also at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass on Saturday. Memorials may be made to the Goodman Center After School Program, the East Madison Community Center After School Program, or Luke House Community Meal Program.
