Rumalda “Maya” Camacho February 10, 1928-May 10, 2015
Our beloved mother and grandmother, Maya, was called home on Sunday, May 10, 2015, Mother’s Day, after a lengthy illness. She is now resting peacefully at our Father’s side. Maya, as she was known to everyone, was the most selfless, caring person you could have ever met. She always had a smile on her face. She always gave of herself to all whom she met. Her family meant the most to her and she loved visiting with her children and grandchildren. Maya had a talent for knitting and she left us with blankets and fond memories her knitting while watching T.V. Maya came to the states at the age of 17 with our father. She started a family and raised us all in a loving family environment. Maya worked in the fields picking strawberries, apricots and nuts for many years before working for the “Chileria”. She preferred to work evenings so she could be home for her children when they came home from school greeting us with her homemade tortillas and a pot of frijoles. She worked many years at the “Chileria” making countless friends and comadres and kept in contact with them long after she retired. When she retired she stayed home to take care of our dad and her beloved garden. Maya is preceded in death by her husband, Cloromiro and son, William “Billy” Camacho. Her parents Petra and Guillermo Elizalde and brother, Ramiro Elizalde. She leaves behind her children, Gloria (Luis) Telles, Jesus (Ruby) Camacho, and Sonia (Rick) Cervantez. Sisters, Chila, Rebecca, Julia, Socorro, Lencha and brother Beto. Grandchildren Vikki (Eric) Moreno, Gina (Jay) Zuniga, Tanya Telles, Steven (Angelica) Arce, Jess (Andrea) Camacho, Veronica (Lalo) Barajas, Michelle (Art) Camacho, Nicole Ruelas, Paul Ruelas, Marissa Ruelas and Anissa Cervantez. 21 Great Grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
