Ruby Jean Truitt was born to the late Robert Brown and Nora Lee Truitt on August 4, 1961. Although her name was Ruby, she was affectionately known as “Cookie, Auntie Cookie, Cook-Cook and Cookies”. Cookie was a graduate of Treadwell High School in Memphis, TN and a graduate of the Memphis Urban League. After receiving her education, Cookie pursued a career in administration with the insurance provider AllState. Cookie loved to dress, travel, loved to shop and she was very giving. She was a talented seamstress, creating clothing for herself and her sisters. She was very generous to all with dainty gifts and trinkets. Cookie was a smart, witty, no-none sense type of woman. We knew she loved us but she did not hesitate to get us in line if need be. When we made her laugh, she would say, "Boy, yall know yall tickle me." She absolutely loved her children Van (John) Hunter and Shaterria Hunter, her siblings (Johnny, Valencia, Sandra, and Derrick), her nieces, nephews, cousins, and her parents. She also loved her God Jehovah and was a dedicated servant of him for over 30 years. While we mourn the loss of our beloved Mom, Sister, Aunt, and/or Cousin, we are comforted by the promised words at Revelation 21:4 where our God "will wipeout every tear from our eyes, death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry no pain be anymore.”
We love you so much our dearest Cookie and we are patiently waiting to see you again soon,
Signed your loving family

A letter to my mother by Shaterria
My heartbeat, my best friend, my breath, my everything! I love you forever. Like the misty rain hitting the tin roof. I will always appreciate the lessons you've taught me. Although your gone you'll always and forever be and live with me in my heartbeat. I will do this thing called life with you all over again just to be in your presence once again. You will forever be my heartbeat as long as i live. Jehovah made a promise to us that we will see our loved ones again. I can't wait to hear your voice, that laugh, that gorgeous smile. This is only the beginning till we meet again.
