Roy Harold Trice Sr.1929-2016Roy Harold Trice Sr. passed away peacefully on Friday, August 26, 2016 at the age of 86. He was born on November 17, 1929 in Louann, Arkansas, but grew up in Mt. Pleasant, Texas. He was a standout football player, earning a scholarship to Texas Tech University. Roy was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. Roy graduated in 1950 with a B.S. in Petroleum Geology. Upon graduation, Roy enlisted in the
United States Air Force. Roy became a distinguished Captain and jet pilot. While serving, Roy's squadron pioneered the process of in-flight refueling of jet airplanes. After five years of service, Roy went to work for Gulf Oil where he remained for 33 years moving all around the southern United States. Roy and his family were active members at Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church and Roy served on several minister search committees. Roy enjoyed playing team tennis, traveling, and golfing with his many friends, but his greatest joy came from spending time with his family. Roy was preceded in death by his mother, Ellie Rhea Trice Robinson of Mt. Pleasant, TX. and his father, Rollie Madison Trice of Dallas, TX. Roy is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth Ann Trice of Houston, TX. On August 14, 2016, Roy and Ann celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary. Roy is also survived by three sons: Roy Trice Jr. and his wife Megan, of Santa Fe, NM; Randy Trice and his wife Cindy, of Houston, TX; and David Trice and his wife Nancy, of Houston, TX. Roy and Ann have eight wonderful grandchildren: Marciny, Nick, Chris, Elizabeth, Mackenzie, Annie, Clayton, and Turner.A Memorial Service for Roy will be held at ten o'clock in the morning on Friday, September 9th in the chapel of Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church, 11612 Memorial Drive, Houston.
