Rosemary I. (Steele) McFarland, age 67, of Leeper, Pa., formerly of Brookville, Pa., passed away with her family by her side on Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at the Jefferson Manor in Brookville, Pa. She was born on July 11, 1949, to the late Robert Vernon and Elizabeth Irene (Dorwarth) Steele, in Brookville, Pa. Rosemary attended and graduated from the Brookville High School with the class of 1967. Shortly after graduation she began working for Marienville Glass. She started her family and as the children started coming she left the work field to tend to them as a stay-at-home mom. The time again came for her to go back to work, and she held many different positions, serving, cooking, and many other types of hospitality. Eventually she worked for the Vowinckel Hotel in Vowinckel, Pa.; at 62 years old she retired. Rosemary's friends and family will joyfully remember her ability to be who she was, wherever she was. She enjoyed a good debate about everything and anything, of which she was very proud of her positions. She loved her own sense of style, even if it didn't make sense to others. She loved reading, trivia, and word searches. Taking bus trips to Salamanca for the casino were days that she looked forward to. She also loved more relaxing activities like sitting by the bonfire in the back yard, holding a beer, and smoking a cigarette. She was comfortable with herself, and she was happy with her ability to be eccentric; to her though, she was just normal. Rosemary is survived by one son, Dale E. McFarland Jr.; two daughters, Kimberly D. ( Rick) Kish, Christina E. McFarland; Ray Seitz, who has been her loving companion for many years; two sisters, Patricia M. (William) Thompson, Jennifer (Douglas) Brocious; one brother, Ed W. (Michele) Steele; four grandsons: Dylan C. and Devon A. McFarland, Robert T. and Matthew S. Kish; and one granddaughter, Carly R. McFarland. Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, March 21, 2017, from 4-8 p.m., at the McKinney–d'Argy Funeral Home, ltd, 345 Main St., Brookville, PA 15825. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, also at the funeral home, beginning at 11 a.m., and officiated by Father William Laska. Interment will take place at the Saint Mary's Cemetery, Rose Twp., Jefferson Co., Pa.
