ST. MARYS - Rose Scutella, 94, formerly of 209 Dippold Ave., St. Marys, died peacefully at Elk Haven Nursing Home on Wednesday (Nov. 30, 2016).Rose was born on Dec. 2, 1921, daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Condello. Rose grew up in Kane, where she attended school and took her place in the workforce at the Kane Shirt Factory. On July 19, 1947, in St. Callistus Church, Rose married Frank Scutella.Upon moving to St. Marys, Rose and Frank, along with her brother–in-law, Tony, opened their business establishment, Scutella's Cleaners & Tailors.Rose assisted in customer service with her beautiful smile for many years before retiring from the family-owned business in 1985.Upon retirement Rose volunteered countless hours at the ReSale Shop where she earned the title of director. This position also gained her a seat on the Elk Regional Hospital Board.Rose was a member of Sacred Heart Church where she served faithfully on the Funeral Luncheon Committee.Rose's happiest moments were times spent with her family and grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading non-fiction books, mastering crossword puzzles, mending clothes for her children and grandchildren, baking pies for her loved ones, and playing Cinch with her friends.Rose is survived by her son, Frank Scutella (Ellen) of St. Marys; two daughters, Mary Rose Lawhead of Hanover and Linda Lundberg (Blair) of Emporium; 10 grandchildren, Nick Scutella, Frank Scott Scutella, Alison (Luke) Chetlen, Matt (Allison) Lawhead, Megan Lawhead, Adam Lundberg, Michael (Allison) Lundberg, Krista (Darin) LeZotte, Brittany Lundberg, and Jonathan Lundberg; and six great-grandchildren, Noah, Nathaniel, Abigail and Adah Chetlen and Hudson and Elizabeth Lawhead. Her sister, Josephine Capello of Depew, N.Y., is the last remaining member of her immediate family.In addition to her parents, Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; her son, Patsy Joe; two brothers, Larry and Tony; a sister, Katherine; and a son-in-law, Richard Lawhead. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home, St. Marys. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in Sacred Heart Church with the Rev. Eric Vogt, OSB, officiating.
