Rose Mary Lewis, 90Rose Mary Lewis, 90, of Lone Tree, passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2016, at Pioneer Park in Lone Tree. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at the Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Lone Tree. Private family burial will be in the Lone Tree Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2017, from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Rose Mary Hotz was born on August 26, 1926, the daughter of Charles and Josephine (Stanek) Hotz. In 1944 Rose Mary graduated from Lone Tree Community Schools. She attended Cornell University and obtained her elementary teaching certificate, she began teaching on her 18th birthday. She taught school two years in Lincoln Township. On December 30, 1945, Rose Mary was united in marriage to Edgar Lewis. Edgar and Rose Mary had two sons, Duane and Larry and two grandchildren, Cody and Ciara. Family was always Rose Mary's pride and joy and she took great pleasure in having her grandchildren come and spend time with them. She enjoyed working at the school where she was a teacher's aide and later a board secretary for over thirty years, retiring in 1988. In her retirement years she worked for the local grocery store in Lone Tree. Rose Mary was a member of the Legion Auxiliary, Fremont Homemakers and Firemen's Auxiliary. She was a supporter of the Lone Tree Museum and Friends of the Library. Her hobbies were cooking, camping, crafting, playing cards and line dancing until she was 80. Rose Mary will be deeply missed by her sons, Duane Lewis and his wife, Eileen of Lone Tree and Larry Lewis and his wife, Jill of Elgin, MN and two grandchildren, Cody Lewis of Minneapolis, MN and Ciara Lewis of Des Moines, Iowa.Rose Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edgar in 2002; and one brother and sister-in-law, Floyd and Betty Hotz.
