Rose BowerApril 11, 1930 - September 25, 2014Rose Bower, 84, of Boise, ID, and formerly of Nampa, ID, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 25, 2014. Rose passed away peacefully at a Boise care center.Rose was born on April 11,1930, to Nelse and Rose Skelton in Fayetteville, AR. She was the youngest of ten children. Her mother died the day after her birth. Her father and older siblings raised Rose, and she traveled between California and Arkansas, living with various family members. In 1949, Rose moved to Oakland, CA, to be secretary to the Dean at Western Baptist Bible College. She met Don Bower at WBBC, and they were married on June 16, 1950, at the First Baptist Church in Notus, ID. Don and Rose farmed in the Franklin Community in Nampa and then north of Kuna for many years. Don also worked at several local radio stations. Rose served as a secretary for twelve different pastors over the years, was active in missionary circles and other church activities. She also worked at Barger-Mattson Auto Salvage as their bookkeeper for fifteen years.In 1979, Don and Rose moved to Saipan in the Mariana Islands to help build and run an inter-denominational missionary radio short-wave station for Far East Broadcasting Company. After Don passed away on June 14, 1986, in a drowning accident, Rose returned to their home in Nampa where she lived until moving to SunBridge Retirement Center in Nampa, ID. Later she moved to Grace Assisted Living, also in Nampa, ID, and finally to Good Samaritan Society - Boise Village in Boise, ID. Rose was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Nampa, ID.Rose is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law and two daughters and sons-in-law; Steve and Laurie Bower, David and Sharon Bower, Jim and Georganna Bower, Sharon and Nick Johnson, and Nancy and David Chavez; seven grandchildren, one step-grandchild, and nine great-grandchildren. Rose was preceded in death by her nine siblings, a daughter, Suzanne Marie Bower, and a daughter-in-law, Janet Watson Bower.A viewing will be held on Sunday, September 28, 2014, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Nampa Funeral Home/Yraguen Chapel located at 415 12th Avenue South in Nampa, ID. Family will greet extended family and friends at that time.A funeral service to honor and celebrate Rose's life will be held on Monday, September 29, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at New Hope Baptist Church located at 1829 West Iowa Avenue, Nampa, ID. Burial will follow at Kohlerlawn Cemetery in Nampa, ID.
