ANGOLA — Ronald E. Miles, age 88, of Angola, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 12, 2015, at Northern Lakes Nursing Center, Angola, Indiana. He was born on Feb. 10, 1927, in Bloomington, Illinois, the son of Edward and Maude (Martin) Miles. They preceded him in death, along with a son, Bruce Miles, and Ron's brother, Martin Miles. Ron Married Dureen Hazel Moll on Aug. 11, 1966, in Riverdale, Illinois. She preceded him in death on Nov. 2, 1997. He was a
police officer in Riverdale, Illinois, and retired as a locomotive engineer after 44 years of service with the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad (now CSX). He proudly served our country during
WWII in the Navy, serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He was a member of Angola American Legion Post 31, Angola
VFW 7205, and the Angola Moose Lodge 1568 In his earlier years, he enjoyed boating and fishing, and had a cottage at Snow Lake. Survivors include his son, Randy (Elizabeth) Miles of Crete, Illinois; a stepdaughter, Linda (William) Klein of McHenry, Illinois; a stepson, David Corsello of Highland, Indiana; grandchildren, Angela (Michael) Dugan of Decatur, Illinois, Jonathan (Melissa) Miles of Scottsdale, Arizona, Caroline (Thomas) Gilgen of St. Charles, Illinois, Christine (Robert) Leach, David Klein (his fiancée, Terri Cooper) both of Algonquin, Illinois, Josh Inman, Rachel Inman, and Jeremy Inman; and great-grandchildren, Jack Dugan, Joseph Dugan, James Dugan, Rhett Miles, Oliver Gilgen, Cody Baxter, Raleigh Leach, Kaleigh Leach, Hunter Klein and Dallas Klein. A life celebration will be held at the Angola VFW Post 7205 on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016, from 2-6 p.m., with military honors conducted at 2 p.m. by members of the Angola American Legion Post and members of Angola VFW. Post, with Walter Krohn officiating. Burial will take place at a later time at Jamestown Cemetery, Fremont, Indiana. Memorials are requested to the D.A.V.
