Ronald WilliamsRonald Lee "Ron" Williams, 79, of Granite City, Ill., born on Dec. 16, 1936 in East St. Louis, Ill., passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016 at Eden Village, Glen Carbon, Ill.Ron was a United States Air Force veteran who proudly served his country. On Oct. 3, 1959, Ron married Rebecca Sanders, the love of his life, in Virginia. He had retired from the Alton Southern Railroad as a conductor after many years of dedicated service. Ron was a member of Granite City Masonic Lodge No. 877, Shriners at Ainad Temple in East St. Louis, Ill., and a member of the Royal Order of Jesters, Southern Illinois Court No. 86. He enjoyed fishing and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone. His greatest joy was spending time with family, especially with his grandchildren, whom he was very proud of. Ron will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.He was preceded in death by his parents, Isaac "Ike" Williams and Veda, nee Cochran, Williams; and brothers, Billy, Gene and Jimmy Williams.Surviving are his devoted wife, Rebecca Williams; loving children, Doug (Linda) Williams of Fulton, Mo., Karen (Greg) Ely of Maryville, Ill., and Art (Stacey) Williams of Troy, Ill.; proud grandfather to Ike, Nicole, Alexis and Holly; also surviving are many dear nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.Memorial donations may be given to or to and donations will be accepted at the funeral chapel.
