Ronald F. Davis Obituary

Jun 01, 1931 - Jan 10, 2016

This obituary is administered by:
Ronald F. Davis, age 85, of Sigel, Pa., passed away naturally and in the presence of his loving wife on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016, as a patient of Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa. Ron was born on June 1, 1931, to the late Vincent L. and Elsie V. (Bailey) Davis in Munderf, Pa. On July 20, 1957, he married Ima "Flo" Florence (Raybuck) Davis in Erie, Pa. The year 2017 would have marked 60 years of continual companionship, love, and memories as Flo survives him. Ron attended the Munderf School and when his time there was finished he joined the United States Army. He served with the 101st Airborne in Korea during the Korean Conflict; he was later honorably discharged. As time went on, Ron found himself working for PennDOT, then eventually found his career as a Union Construction worker with local 66; he was able to retire in 1993. Ron participated with and volunteered much of his time to the Mt. Tabor Presbyterian Church in Sigel, Pa. He associated with his comrades as a member of the Brookville American Legion, Post 102. He was also a member of the Sigel Sportsmen's Club and the National Rifle Association. Every year Ron looked forward to his time spent outdoors hunting, fishing, and feeding the wildlife. He kept busy cutting and splitting wood that he would then sell, as well as running his tractors. He also liked mowing the yard, and in his younger years he enjoyed riding snowmobiles. His smile could be seen while he roasted hotdogs during the Mt. Tabor Presbyterian Church's July picnic. Ron couldn't sit still; he would tinker with everything and he was always busy building or fixing something. He enjoyed throwing horseshoe, playing dominoes, and 500. More than all of these things, he loved seeing and being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Flo, Ron is survived by two daughters, Annette Packett, Jolene (Douglas) Hartle; one sister; Donna Colley; two granddaughters, Dorene (Erik) Reigle, Marlie (William) Carroll; two grandsons, Clint (Rachel) Hartle, Shane (Cassie) Hartle; and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one sister, Reba Swarts; one brother, Russell Davis; one half-brother, Ted Williams; and two half sisters, Rebecca Moore and Ruth Mortimer. Family and friends will be received on Monday, Dec. 12, 2016, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., at the McKinney-d'Argy Funeral Home, ltd, 345 Main St., Brookville PA, 15825. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2016, also at the funeral home, beginning at 11 a.m., and officiated by the Rev. Boyd Edmondson. Interment will take place at the Mt. Tabor Cemetery, Eldred Twp., Jefferson Co., Pa. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Mt. Tabor Presbyterian Church, PO Box 128, Sigel, PA 15860, or to the Sigel Volunteer Fire Dept., PO Box 97, Sigel, PA 15860.
