Mr. Ronald Edward Day, age 76 years, resident of Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at TBRHSC on February 16, 2017. He was born on July 14, 1940 in Brandon MB. His family moved to Fort William Ontario when he was 12. He graduated from PACI and later attended university to become a Chartered Accountant, which he practiced until the time of his passing. Ron took a great deal of pride in his profession. He was a member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario and Alberta. Ron articled for (F.J. Black) Clarkson-Gordon and after graduation, became employed at Headway. He then transferred to Nu-West in Calgary AB where he remained until he moved back to Thunder Bay to open up his own Chartered Accounting firm. In his early years he was the original drummer for The Silver Satellites which then became Bobby Curtola and The Bobcats. They remained friends until the time of Bobby's passing. He also enjoyed both track and field and playing basketball. Ron was a loving family man who enjoyed travelling, fishing, camping, gardening and spending time with his grand-children. He loved to watching his grandson play hockey. Ron is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Sally. His two daughters Suzanne & Alan Wice (Andy, Ashley, Justin, Tyler & Sarah) and Raeanne & Allan Faykes (AJ & Brendan) as well as his step-son Daryl Reilly & Renee Furlotte (Liam & Julia) and his step-daughter Kathryn Kirchner & Greg Weins (Ayden). He was predeceased by his first wife Maureen Day (Baird) and his parents Edward and Violet Day. The family would like to thank Dr. J. Scali for his many years of care, as well as the ER and ICU staff of TBRHSC for their care and compassion. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration Of Ron's Life for family & friends will be held at 11am on Thursday February 23 at St. Stephen The Martyr Anglican Church, 494 Leslie Avenue. The family is requesting everyone who wants to share their memories and celebrate his life to come to the house at 485 Poleline Road after 7pm on February 23. A private internment of ashes will be held at a later date. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations to The National Organization for Albinism and Hyperpigmentation (NOAH) www.albinism.org or the MS Society Of Canada at: mssociety.donorportal.ca would be greatly appreciated by the family.
