Roberts, Roger J.Roger Joseph Roberts, age 71, died peacefully on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Hospital of Appleton.Roger was born on March 12, 1945 in Clintonville, WI the son of the late Edward and Esther (Allender) Roberts. He was united in marriage to Mary Alt on June 10, 1967 here in Appleton, sharing 49 years together. Roger was formerly employed with Lehrer Freight Company driving truck for them for several years. Roger's hobby was working on lawnmowers and small engines. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved having his family and friends over for cookouts.He is lovingly survived by his wife, Mary; two daughters, Stacy Roberts, Appleton; Lori (Mite) Soto, Appleton; seven grandchildren, Levi Lane and Jeni Orlando, Darrin Lane, Jr., Amber Lane, Gabby Nellessen, Emily Lane, Summer Lane and Isiah Soto; six great-grandchildren, Ava, Felix, Brody, Jerame, Jr., Vivian and Hale; a sister, Joan Kutzleb and a brother, Gary Roberts; a brother-in-law, Mark (Lisa) Alt, a sister-in-law, Joan Alt and by nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and their families. Roger was also preceded in death by two brothers, Albert and Larry and a sister, Shirley Borgwardt.A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Valley Funeral Home with Rev. Michael L. Huff officiating. Inurnment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Appleton. Roger's family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
