ROBERTA NELL FRIEDLAND PORTAGE, IN Roberta Nell Friedland age 89, of Portage, IN, passed away on November 8, 2016. She was born on May 15, 1927 to Hugh and Geneva Hunneshagen of Rochester, IN. Preceding her in death was her husband of 54 years, Randall Friedland; her parents and her brother, Hugh Hunneshagen of FL. Roberta is survived by sisters, Marilyn Henderson of Waterfold, MI, Marcia Taylor of Akron, IN; sister- in-law, Janet (Gary) Rhodes of Auburn, NY and several nieces and nephews. Roberta met her sweet Randall while in IU School of Nursing where she graduated with honors. Her nursing career at Gary Methodist reflected her preciseness, inquisitive nature and desire to care for others. While there she held the positions of Clinical Instructor and Supervising Nurse for the Operating Room. She was a longtime member of Hope Lutheran Church and was very active in various church groups. She and Randall enjoyed music, dancing, history and serving their church. A special thank you to Linda Nance and the late Aldene Smith for their help so many times. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Hope Lutheran Church, 6322 Portage Ave., Portage IN 46368 with Pastor Joshua Skogen officiating.
