On July 3, 1923, Roberta Bell Newcomb was born to Lillian and Alfred Bell in Port of Spain, Trinidad. She accepted Christ into her life as a child and has never looked back.
Roberta left Trinidad at the age of 12, with her older siblings and moved to Brooklyn, NY with her aunt. Although Roberta never made it past 8th grade she was a very savvy young lady. By the age of 18, she opened her own alterations and laundry shop, which later became Newcomb Dry Cleaning. At the age of 20, she met Robert Newcomb Sr. and the two were married until his death in 1999. It was never a dull moment around this woman, she could make you laugh and cry at the same time. Very wise and always willing to give a lesson to anyone that was willing to listen and receive the truth.
Roberta leaves behind 4 children, Robert Jr.(Shelia) Walter(Australia) Sherlen(Angela) and Cherry. 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, and will be greatly missed by so many more as she was still very active in her church, Calvary Baptist Church.
Her favorite scripture: Psalm 23
The Lordis my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
