Robert "Bob" Warren Blumenthal Sr., 88 of Charotte, NC, peacefully passed away on the evening of Thursday, November 3, 2016 after living a full and adventurous life. He was born on April 21, 1928 in Worcester, MA, the son of the late Lewis Blumenthal and Florence Beatrice Lobar. Always generous and loving, he was a wonderful husband and the best dad, grandfather, and mentor to all and is already missed deeply by those who loved him and his ways. Bob proudly served his Country during the
Korean War as a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Air Force in Presque Isle, Maine then in Weisbaden, Germany. He was honorably discharged on February 7, 1963. Upon his return to the States, Bob met the love of his life, Carolyn Whitlock, and later enjoyed many years of being a loving husband and dad. A graduate of Cornell University in 1949 with a Bachelor's of the Arts degree , Bob unexpectedly went back home upon graduation to run his father's advertising agency, Lewis Advertising Agency, after his father's sudden death. A protective son and brother, Bob cared greatly for his family, and wanted to make sure they were provided for during such a difficult time. Later, Bob went on to utilize his hard earned degree in Statesville, NC, where he gained much hands-on experience with textiles and the necessary machinery so that he could later open his own textile business, Catawba Cotton Batting, in Claremont, NC. Bob is survived by his children and their spouses: Timothy Blumenthal (Melissa), Jennifer Elmore (Robin), and Robert Blumenthal Jr., all of Charlotte, NC; his grandchildren: Jennifer Anne, Emily, John, Mallory, and Carolyn Grace; and his sisters: Nancy Tesler of El Macero, CA and Harriett Karesh of Greensboro, NC.A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at McEwen Funeral Service - Pineville NC, 10500 Park Rd, Charlotte, NC 28210 from 6:00-8:00 pm.
