WadeDr. Robert Lane Wade, 78, died on August 31, 2017. He was born on May 16, 1939 in Athens, Georgia. He was the son of Jeremiah G. Wade and Nettie Patton Wade. He is survived by his sister, Elizabeth Moffett, who is 95. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jeremiah Carlton Wade. He was a graduate of Athens High School in 1957. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees in chemistry at the University of Georgia where he was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, Phi Beta Kappa, and the Air Force ROTC. He taught chemistry from 1964-1967 at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs as his military assignment.He met his wife, Suzanne Marie Kneeland Wade, in Denver, Colorado. They were married on June 18, 1966, and just celebrated their 51st anniversary. Bob and Sue moved to Gainsville, Florida, in 1967, where he received a Procter and Gamble Fellowship. He completed his Ph.D. in analytical chemistry at the University of Florida in December, 1971. Following his graduation, they moved to Cincinnati where he began his 30 year career at Procter and Gamble. He held positions with increasing responsibilities in analytical foods, product research and development, the paper division, coffee division, and health and beauty care, and Ivorydale research center. He was a Ph.D. recruiter for Procter and Gamble at University of Florida, Florida State University, University of Georgia, and University of Tennessee. He retired in 2001 as an Associate Director and enjoyed taking two years of art lessons at the Cincinnati Art Academy. Bob and Sue enjoyed snow skiing and travelling the world. He was a weekly tennis player at Queen City Racquet Club until he fell in June, and his health declined following two neurosurgeries.He was a member of College Hill Presbyterian Church for 44 years serving as an elder, a deacon, on the personnel team for 7 years, a member of the original Fathers' Ministry Team, a Feast of Love Board member and treasurer, a member of the Band of Brothers Bible Study Group, and a volunteer at Camp S'More. He loved to serve. He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Guckiean, his son David, daughter-in-law Manuela, and 6 fantastic grandchildren: Emma and Trent Guckiean; Lauren, Kaitie, and Liam Wade; and Stevan Rademann. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Thomas Kneeland, sister-in-law Lori Kneeland, and brother & sister-in-law John and Nancy Kneeland as well as several nieces and a nephew.A memorial service will be held at College Hill Presbyterian Church, 5742 Hamilton Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45224, on September 6, 2017. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until the memorial service begins at 6:00 pm. A private family burial will take place at Spring Grove Cemetery.
