Robert W. Lopez, 74, a resident of Las Vegas for the past 12 years, moving here from Peñasco, passed away on Feb. 14, 2013 at Alta Vista Regional Hospital in Las Vegas.He was born on May 9, 1938, in Taos to Serapio Lopez and Onofre Leyba. He was united in marriage on Oct. 7, 1976, in Grants to Victoria M. Lopez.He worked as a laborer at Los Alamos National Labs for eight years. He was a loving husband and companion. He worked for Kerr-McGee as a miner, he was an avid basketball fan, and enjoyed attending Peñasco Panther basketball games.He is preceded in death by his parents, Serapio and Onofre Lopez; brother, Nestor Gallegos; and sister, Maria Garcia.He is survived by his wife, Victoria M. Lopez of Las Vegas; daughter and sons, Rose Mary Lopez, Edwin and David Lopez, all of Albuquerque; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, several brothers and sisters, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Prayer service was held Sunday at Rogers Chapel in Las Vegas and funeral service will be held at 9 a.m. on Monday at Rogers Chapel with Pastor Victor Palacio of El Paso, Texas.
