Robert Lee TuningNovember 15, 1920 - December 7, 2014Robert Lee Tuning passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 7, 2014 at a Boise care facility with his family nearby. At Robert's request services will be held on Friday, December 12, 2014 at 11:00 am at Flahiff Funeral Chapel and a viewing will be held on December 11, 2014 from 5-8 pm also at the funeral chapel in Caldwell, Idaho. Robert was born on November 15, 1920 in Roswell Idaho to James and Emma Tuning. Robert was one of thirteen children and attended school in Roswell, Idaho. Robert graduated from Roswell High School in 1939. Early in life, Robert learned that hard work and dedication brought many rewards and success. This lesson truly paid off as he gave his best effort to all of life's endeavors. Perhaps this is why Robert was such a wonderful son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, friend, professional and member of the community. In 1939, Robert took a position with Dairyman's Creamery in Caldwell, Idaho and continued his service to them for over 40 years when he retired as the Plant Manager. On December 4, 1941, Robert married Laura (Sayre) in Parma Idaho and together they chose to make their loving home in Caldwell, Idaho and later in Middleton, Idaho. Together, Robert and Laura had two children, Ronald Lee Tuning (Boise) and Sherilyn Kay (Tuning) Tamura (Middleton). While Robert's family and his professional life were his priorities, Robert contributed to the community in so many ways. He was a member of the Caldwell Jaycees, the Caldwell Lions Club, the Middleton School Board, the Caldwell Civic Building Association and the Caldwell Chamber of Commerce Public Relations Committee. Robert enjoyed everything that the outdoors had to offer. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, four wheeling and spending time in McCall with lifelong friends Bill and Bernita Paulson. He also enjoyed the times that were spent in Wilder with the bowling league that he and his wife Laura played on. But more than any other time, Robert enjoyed all of the time that he spent camping with his wife Laura and their grandchildren throughout Idaho and Oregon.Robert is survived by his son Ronald Tuning and his wife Suzanne of Boise and his daughter Sherilyn Tamura and her husband Duane. In addition to their two children, Robert and Laura had three grandchildren that brought many joyous moments to their lives. Their grandchildren include: Shannon Leslie and her husband Bill of Nampa, Andrea Tuning of Boise and Ben Tuning of Boise. Robert is also survived by one sister, Margaret Parson as well as a number of nieces and nephews.Robert was preceded in death by his mother and father, wife, six brothers and five sisters. The Tuning family would like to send a very special thank you to all of the family and friends for their continued support to make Robert's life more comfortable as he neared his sunset on earth. Memorials may be made in his honor to the Middleton Baptist Church or the Boise Rescue Mission. Condolences can be given at www.flahifffuneralchapel.com
